DOCTOR

PLAGIO

Dr. Plagio is a family physician at the University of Southern California.  He has a unique opportunity to provide continuity of care from conception through pregnancy to birth.  This oversight extends to the child during the first years of growth development.

Dr. Plagio believes in "technology assisted thinking" for prevention and early detection of abnormalities in infants.

One of the most useful technologies in his practice is the 3D ultrasound system.

The advent of 3D ultrasound technology in the hands of clinicians provides an active window of observation during the course of pregnancy.  It provides a bond between the clinician, the infant, and the mother.  Visualization of a fetus is one of the most powerful tools in educating mothers about the life of a fetus as well as guiding mothers with changing bad life style habits (such as smoking).

With this tool, Dr. Plagio can see subtle anatomic details and detect abnormalities if any exist, suchas cleft palate, spinal deformities, abdominal wall deformities, brain abnormalities, or placenta/umbilical cord flow abnormality.

At times, wonderful surprises await the mother and Dr. Plagio, such as this fetus smiling back at them.
